The Business Card

In old days, when visiting a dignified place the business card was passed to the butler or matron, to be handed over on a silver tray. Usually the visitor buckled the card according a certain rule, the kind of buckling signaled the occasion (condolences, inaugural visit, etc.). When courtly banquets, the card served the master of ceremonies for public announcement of the visitor. The engraver, an eminently respectable profession, created Business Cards.

The Electronic Business Card

When in ancient days, the quality of a business card was dependent on the engraver, nowadays it is the web designer featuring the web presence. In the 21^st century, a freelancer, (micro)-entrepreneur, SME, craftsmen, association, teacher, scientist or institution cannot do without a web presence.

Quality Requirement

A website breeds complex interactions between appearance and user behavior. This is called phenotypic interference by the media research. These different aspects are considered:

• Man - Machine - Interface

• Phenotype (appearance)

• User Behavior

• Interaction

Dealing with scientific knowledge of media research is the basis for my design criteria. A good eye for form and content and a good relationship with speech and expression is reflected in my work.
